Explore the Seacoast: Dover
Dover, NH, known as the Garrison City, is New Hampshire's oldest town and the United States' 7th oldest city. Just a short drive from Portsmouth, Dover is a city full of history, arts and local food. Here are some reasons to take a trip to Dover:
1. Local History: In its early days, Dover was a bustling Mill town! Many of the mill buildings have been restored and are now used for housing, local businesses and restaurants!
2. Taste Local Flavors: Dover is home to some pretty incredible restaurants and breweries. There is something for everyone, whether you're looking for a date night or a casual place to grab some nachos, you won't be disappointed.
3. Enjoy Nature: In addition to its bustling downtown, Dover is known for its natural beauty! Take a walk through the Bellamy River Wildlife Sanctuary and explore the marshes and enjoy all the native birds!
4. Go Fish: Speaking of marshes, one of the reasons Dover was settled so early is because the marshes and rivers made it a great spot to fish; while you're in town cast a line and see what you catch!
