Community Spotlight: Connor’s Climb
“Our Mission is to provide suicide prevention education to
New Hampshire youth and the community"
One of our favorite things about living on the Seacoast is the sense of community that radiates through each and every town. We are a community that comes together to celebrate the good times, support each other during the hard times and rallies to create a safe, kind and welcoming place to live. Which leads us to this month’s Charity Spotlight, Connor’s Climb, an amazing organization that works tirelessly to foster an environment where children feel safe talking about mental health and asking for help when they need it.
Connor’s Climb is a foundation that was started after a young man, Connor Ball, committed suicide in October 2011 after suffering from depression in silence, like so many others. Connor was loved by everyone who knew him and that love launched a mission to make sure that no other family experiences the same profound life-altering loss.
Connor’s Climb is a foundation dedicated to raising awareness and smashing the stigma surrounding mental illness. The foundation works with teachers, schools, members of the community, and the New Hampshire mental health system to bring resources and education to our youth and their family members. Their program normalizes asking for help and their goal is to foster help seeking behavior. The program aims to educate people to see the signs of depression and suicide ideation so they can reach out and perhaps save a life.
Let’s Get Involved!
The Connor’s Climb Foundation hosts an annual “5k and Family Walk,” which is their biggest fundraiser and Marci & Co. Realty Group is a proud sponsor!
This year’s race will take place on September 26th at the Seacoast School of Technology. Register here to show your support for youth mental health and suicide prevention! Can't make it in person? Join us from anywhere, take a photo and tag Connor’s Climb in an effort to raise awareness! We hope to see you there!
